“Just around the corner here I go halibut fishing in a little skiff, no bigger than my 17-foot there, and we set some ground gear or use our rods… I just want that to be there for my children and their children and their children, all the way down the line. When I look at the [proposed liquefied natural gas] project and I see what it’s about, the leveling of Lelu Island doesn’t make sense to me, the pipeline that comes in, the infrastructure that’s going to be left here when the project’s complete. The land will never be the same again. It’s important to maintain the integrity of this very delicate ecosystem here.”
